The little town of Abbott, Texas recently lost its entire fleet of fire trucks in the deadly explosion at the fertilizer plant in West.

AbbottFireDept041913

Abbott only had two fire trucks to begin with, but with both of those a total loss, the town is left with none. Texas summers always leave the ground dry, brittle and vulnerable to brush fires. Without a fire truck readily available, even the smallest fire can quickly grow out of control within minutes.

Question: Does anyone have a couple of fire trucks laying around they aren’t using anymore that they’d like to donate? If so, please contact the Abbott Fire Department in Abbott, Texas. They would greatly appreciate it.

Every five years in the United States we have the opportunity to have a national discussion over priorities in the Farm Bill. The United States Congress is currently debating the legislation and taking action what our national nutrition, conservation, crop insurance and farm subsidy programs will look like over the next five years. We have a unique opportunity to encourage Congress to add the legalization of Industrial Hemp to the current language. It is imperative that Congress take action now. Industrial Hemp products represent a $400 million industry today, yet American farmers are prohibited from growing this “crop of our Founding Fathers”. Demand that Congress take action now.
