Willie Nelson will be donating proceeds from his Birthday Concert on April 28th at The Backyard to West Volunteer Fire Department. Many people want to know how they can help.

  1. Donate to West Fire Department – mail donations to:
West Fire Department, PO Box 97, West, Tx 76691
  2. Donate to the victims – PointWest Bank: http://www.pointwestbank.com
  3. Donate Blood – during the next few months schedule appointment to donate blood. Blood will be needed and it has a limited shelf life. Go to http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood for additional information and to find a location near you.
  4. Some items are needed but the out pooring has been above and beyond expectation. Please contact donation facilities for specific items needed at this time:
    Extraco Events Center (254) 776-1660
First Baptist Church of Lott (254) 829-2321

  5. Thank you for doing this ~ I think it’s a great cause. The explosion came 66 years + 1-day from my home town’s disaster of 1947 (Texas City Blast) with the same type of fertilizer explosion. Such a sad day for many then and history seems to be repeating itself. I will send a check to help to West Fire Department at the address listed above. Thanks for posting this.

  6. Never a doubt in my mind you would do this from the moment the news broke. It’s so a part of the man you are. I’m especially touched that you took time to think of the animals as well. So often they can be neglected in emergencies that they have no way of understanding. Thank you sir. So proud to be a lifetime Willie fan at this moment. God Bless you, your family and all the people and animals effected by this life altering event.

  7. Thanks for the info and I reposted the info… Hugs to you and yours. Michelle

  8. My heart goes out to the people of West. My grandparents lived there all their adult lives and my father and uncle were born and raised there. Grandpa was a volunteer firefighter. I lived 11 years in Waco and visited West frequently to see my grandfolks and stock up on kolaches and Nemecek’s sausage. I think one of the most important things to do in helping my former neighbors is to keep in mind that the rush to help will pass quickly as we get interested in new happenings; but, these people will be living with the aftermath for months and years. Some will have their entire lives changed and need help indefinitely. West itself will be different now in many ways. So, address their needs with your love, thoughts, prayers, and checkbooks…for the duration…and don’t forget them.

  9. How can I help work the concert? I have little money, but I am a hard worker, have various construction, sound equipment, and people skills. Also am a disabled veteran, but able bodied and could make a difference in whatever capacity needed. Thank you for your time.

  10. Thanks Willie!
I know you are “just helping neighbors”. I am from Elgin, TX. and live in Tennessee due to my Job. Been a Firefighter for 23 years now, it’s rare to see someone as naturally caring as yourself. I have passed on the info you posted for folks in my area (Knoxville) wanting to help West. Once a Texan, always a Texan.Thank You for just being yoiurself.

    Bless your HEART WILLIE!
Just like you to open your HEART and GIVE. Put smiles on the faces of so many who haven’t in a long time!
You won’t remember me, but I’ll never forget the day I met you! My late Uncle, one of your Recording Engineers, Phil York, (Red Headed Stranger Album) brought you to The Grapevine Opry in Grapevine, TX on a whim. Such a surprise for all there!
Thanks Willie for doing great things for the GREAT FOLKS IN WEST TEXAS!!!

    Dear sweet Willie,
I’m so grateful that you are donating the proceeds of your performance to the good responders and the town of West, Texas. My sister and I are trying to get to the show. If we can’t get in,who needs our donations the most right now. A friend that runs an online boutique lost her home and all her inventory. My heart hurts for everyone who lost everything. We will donate where it’s most needed.
And a very happy day to you on the 30th!

    • Abbott and West Fire Departments lost most of the equipment. They really need help. But help in any way you see fit.

  16. Went to your concert at backyard ran out of the westtx benefit shirt, can we purchase them anywhere else?

  17. When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a
comment is added I get four emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
    Appreciate it!

  18. Hello I am so happy I found your blog, I really
found you by error, while I was browsing on Bing for
something else, Regardless I am here now and would just like to say thank
you for a fantastic post and a all round enjoyable blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to
read through it all at the minute but I have bookmarked it and also added in your RSS
feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a lot more, Please do
    keep up the awesome b.
