Archives For Farm Aid

Willie Nelson has once again teamed with Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews (with Tim Reynolds), and rounded up some of the best musicians in the land for the 32nd annual Farm Aid Concert, a live one-day festival that raises funds for family farmers and will be broadcast live on his exclusive SiriusXM channel.

This year’s broadcast, airing from Burgettstown, PA, on Willie’s Roadhouse (Ch. 59), includes sets from the aforementioned Farm Aid board members as well as Sheryl Crow, Jack Johnson, Avett Brothers, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Margo Price, Jamey Johnson, Blackberry Smoke, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Valerie June, Insects Vs. Robots. Dallas Wayne will also be backstage hosting interviews with artists and farmers.

For more than 30 years, Farm Aid, with the support of the artists who contribute their performances each year, has raised more than $50 million to support programs that help farmers thrive, expand the reach of the Good Food Movement, take action to change the dominant system of industrial agriculture and promote food from family farms.

Right now, Farm Aid is working in Texas and Louisiana, where farms are recovering in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Devastated farmers and ranchers are facing terrible destruction including wiped out crops and fences, stranded livestock, fields submerged under feet of water, and damage to their homes.

The rapid recovery of family farms is essential to the health and vitality of rural communities. Their towns need them to grow the good food we all love to eat. Family farmers need our help now to support them on the long road ahead, in order to come back stronger than ever.

Willie’s Roadhouse will broadcast live from Farm Aid 2017, beginning at noon ET. See full schedule below.

Farm Aid 2014 is an all-day music and food festival, and will feature a unique lineup of artists and genres and will offer concert-goers family farm-identified, local and organic foods with its own HOMEGROWN Concessions®. In Farm Aid’s HOMEGROWN Village, attendees will have the chance to meet farmers, engage in hands-on food and farm activities, and learn about the ways family farmers are enriching our soil, protecting our water and growing our economy, in addition to bringing us good food for good health.

“In North Carolina and across the Southeast, family farmers have struggled to stay on the land, but they have also pioneered new roads to economic sustainability. This region knows the value of its farmers and offers increasing opportunities for new farmers to build a strong regional food system. On the Farm Aid stage Saturday, September 13, we’ll celebrate family farmers and the healthy communities they’re growing for all of us.” — Willie Nelson

“There is a fair-like feeling when you go to Farm Aid. All day long, people are performing onstage and food from family farmers is being served. It’s a great occasion for families to come listen to great music and teach their children about where their food comes from. We’re proud to bring Farm Aid 2014 to North Carolina for the first time to feature the family farmers whose hard work and innovations are essential for all of us.” — John Mellencamp

While news headlines are focused on the shutdown of the federal government, farmers and ranchers are reeling from natural disasters. In Colorado, an epic late September flood destroyed crops, soil, roads and irrigation infrastructure. In South Dakota, an early October blizzard dropped four feet of snow, killing tens of thousands of cattle. To make matters worse, the agencies that farmers rely on after natural disasters were closed in the government shutdown.
